December 23, 2010 – The United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) Association became a happy customer of Janae Designs. They purchased five of our devices, including three Sidersters (a special request design order of UCP), a large Wedgster, and a Chairster, which are all now in use at their Miami Golden Glades Facility.
December 25, 2010 – A month before Christmas 2010, Ollie was informed by PTO President Suzy Sullivan that Janae's Arc Potentials School classroom was in need of a large Wedgster. When the PTO was unable to raise enough money to purchase one, Ollie donated a free Wedgster to them as a Christmas gift donation on behalf of his daughter Janae. January 3 & 9, 2011 – The neighborhood kids wanted to help special needs kids like Ollie's daughter Janae, so they organized a lemonade stand and raised $48.66 for Janae Designs' new Hope 4 Mobility Not-For-Profit company.
January 14, 2011 – Since Janae Designs was a featured story in Marcia Pounds' newly released book, titled "I Found a Job," Ollie was invited to Marcia's Book Signing and Reception http://www.IFoundaJobbook.com/. "I Found a Job" is full of real life stories and career advice & techniques for those seeking employment or aspiring to start their own business. For Ollie, he started Janae Designs out of necessity, concern and enduring love for his daughter Janae. His studies & degree in business and career in engineering & manufacturing have been very instrumental in his journey for launching Janae Designs.
February 24, 2011 – Click Here to read the essay that won 7th Grader, Gabrielle Marvez, a full College Scholarship, as part of Florida Governor Rick Scott's Statewide Black History Month Essay Contest “Celebrating African-American Leaders in Business – Past, Present and Future.” Gabrielle's Western Pines Middle School teacher, Mr. Steve Gordon, encouraged his students to enter the contest... and Ollie was elated to learn that Gabrielle chose to write her story on his business, Janae Designs. Two weeks later, he was tremendously thrilled when Gabrielle’s father, Richard Marvez, phone to share the exciting news that she won the contest and would be traveling to Tallahassee to receive her award.

March 10, 2011 – Ollie was invited to perform an in-service demonstratration of his equipment to approximately 1-dozen Physical Therapists at Pediatric Therapy Associates in Fort Lauderdale (447 Northwest 73rd Avenue, Plantation, FL 33317-1608 / http://www.ptatherapy.com/). The staff loved the presentation and Janae Designs equipment and agreed to make them available to their clients.
April 8, 2011 – Dr. Simone Sellier, SLP.D., CCC-SLP, CKTP, CPHM of Miami Children's Hospital-Dan Marino Center was first introduced to Ollie by her colleague Dr. Mark Epstein via the Janae Designs Brochure. Dr. Simone Sellier was impressed by what she read in the brochure and invited Ollie to perform an in-service demonstratration of his equipment to their staff of 16 physical therapists at their facility in Broward County, Florida (2900 South Commerce Parkway, Weston, FL 33331-3622 / http://www.mch.com/). The staff at Dan Marino Center enjoyed the presentation, asked questions, shared ideas and agreed to offer and demonstrate the equipment to their clients.
March 31, 2011 – The Jones Family (Ollie, Tracy, Nya, Janae & Jadon) was honored as Host Family of The 2011 Arc's "Ugly Pants Party" Charity Benefit & Fashion Show at the Gardens Mall in Palm Beach Gardens, FL, which was aired by FOX 29 Ten O'Clock News. Ollie was the guest speaker of the event (Click Here to read Ollie's speech). Along with 25 other volunteer models, Ollie also participated in the benefit fashion show, where he modeled a very fun, colorful, and sharp Brooks Brothers outfit. The event was a huge success in raising thousands of dollars for special needs children like Janae. The event was a prelude to the May 24, 2011 Arc Invitational Golf Tournament Charity Event at The Bear’s Club in Jupiter, FL.
May 24, 2011 – Since Janae was the Youth Ambassador of the Arc, Palm Beach County, Ollie was asked to be this years speaker representing Janae and his other family members (Tracy, Nya, & Jadon) at the 2011 The Arc Invitational Golf Tournament held at The Bear’s Club in Jupiter. The Bear’s Club is the realization of Jack Nicklaus’s vision to create a world-class golf club in South Florida. The Mistress of Ceremonies was the prestigous Tiffany Kenny, Anchor WPBF News Channel 25 (see photos).
Thanks to co-sponsors Mary Courim and Robert Campbell, Chairman & CEO of BBC International (see photos) and all of the participants and donors, The Arc successfully raised tens of thousands of dollars to help improve the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities and their families through services, education and advocacy. Later in the evening, the event and a brief shot of Ollie's speech was broadcasted on PBF News Channel 25 (see photos).
May 26, 2011 – Dr. Lucy Cohen of Sunrise Rehabilitation Hospital (http://www.healthsouthsunrise.com/ 4399 North Nob Hill Road, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33351) invited Ollie present an in-service demonstration and PowerPoint presentation of his equipment to several members of her physical and occupational therapy staff, including Kathy Honeycutt, Marsha Feldman, and Maria Ambrogia . With the assistance of Dr. Bill Boothe, one of Ollie's esteemed Board of Advisor members, Ollie's demonstration of his Wedgster, Walkster, Chairster and Standster devices was well received. The therapists were also very excited to learn about Ollie's new multi-purpose device that is currently under develelopment.
June 3-5, 2011 – Janae Designs was invited to particiapte as a Micro-Enterprise exhibitor in The 13th Annual Family Cafe (lfahey@familycafe.net) Conference & Expo in Orlando at the Disney Coronado Springs Resort, Lake Buena Vista. The Annual Family Café was a three-day statewide event designed to meet the need for information and networking among people with disabilities and/or special health care needs and their families here in Florida.
The Family Café Planning Committee, which is comprised of self-advocates, family members, fellow nonprofits and state agency partners, plays a central role in planning The Annual Family Café. It is their mission to provide families with an opportunity for collaboration, advocacy, friendship and empowerment in a family-centered environment. The event included a range of engaging Breakout Sessions, a collection of engaging booth displays in the Exhibit Hall, and a chance to converse with state leaders at The 13th Annual Summit on Disabilities.
July 14, 2011 (10:00AM) – The exposure Janae Designs received at the June 3-5, 2011, 13th Annual Family Cafe Conference & Expo initiated an In-Service request and invitation from Laura A. Reyes, OTR/L, CompCare Residential Therapy Supervisor of Broward Children’s Center (www.bcckids.org / 200 Southeast 19th Avenue, Pompano Beach, FL 33060). Dr. Bill Boothe assisted Ollie with the In-Service and presentation to 13 Physical & Occupational Therapists, Rehab Techs, Teacher’s Aids and Register Nurses.
In addition to Janae Designs' existing devices, the group was introduced to conceptual design drawings of Ollie’s newest invention, a multi-use device (Patent Pending). Everyone was very excited and amazed by the many functions, uses and benefits of the new device. The group was also eager to participate in a survey on whether or not their facility and patients could use the device and the average price they would be willing to pay for the device. Everyone agreed that the device could definitely assist, treat and help improve the wellness, mobility and quality of life of their children, other persons with developmental disabilities and physical injuries, as well as making it easier for parents, therapists and caregivers to provide therapy, treatment and care. The price quote from each group member ranged from $5,000 – $12,000.
July 14, 2011 (12:30PM) – Julissa Abreu, Janae’s former Physical Therapist 4-years ago at Bethesda Hospital heard about Janae Designs through some colleagues and invited Ollie to perform an In-Service demonstration at PSA Healthcare / PPEC Pediatrics Physician Extended Care (www.psahealthcare.com / 2005 Vista Parkway, suite 110A, West Palm Beach, FL 33411).
Dr. Bill Boothe assisted Ollie in presenting his devices to the group, consisted of nine staff members and parents. Everyone was very excited about the devices to help assist, treat and improve the wellness, mobility and quality of life of their children, as well as help make it easier for parents, therapists and caregivers to provide therapy, treatment and care to their children. The staff was so interested; they requested a loaner Wedgster to begin testing and treating the tight hampstrings & adductor mucles of their children immediately. They were also eager to begin participating in the Clinical Study of the effectiveness of the Wedgster vs. orthopedic surgical intervention, currently being conducted by the Arc Potentials School, with participants from Martin County School District Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Program.
In the product price survey, the group said they would pay $4,500 – $10,000 for the new multi-use device and offered some wonderful input on added features that could help their children and others with developmental disabilities and injuries. Their Director, Alexandra Delgado said that she has been praying for more people with a special heart for their children and is looking forward to working with Janae Designs on their current and future therapy equipment needs .
September 23, 2011 (8:00am) – The 2nd Annual Janae Designs Charity Golf Tournament at the Village Royal Palm Beach Golf Course, Royal Palm Beach, FL. was another great success. This year, we were able to raise enough funds to provide families of four special needs children a FREE Wedgster to help improve their quality of life. Although no one won the Hole in One Contest for the beautiful new 2011 Ford Explorer, other prizes were awarded, the weather was great and everyone had a wonderful time.
For next year’s 3rd Annual Janae Designs Charity Golf Tournament, we are planning a much larger event at a more exclusive golf course like PGA National, Breakers Reese Jones or Bear Lakes....with hopefully 72-144 players and winners trophies for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place teams.
November 14, 2011 (12:00PM) – Janae Designs was invited by the staff of The Paley Advanced Orthopedic Institute, St. Mary's Medical Center, West Palm Beach, FL, to perform a presentation of his equipment and to discuss the design of custom equipment for Dr. Jon Paley's patients.
Dr. Paley is a world-renowned surgeon and pioneer in Limb Lengthening and deformities (Click http://www.paleyinstitute.org/). At the conclusion of the meeting, Ollie assured the staff he could design the custom wheelchair cushions in in the following sizes for Dr. Paley's leg lengthening surgery patients:

December 1, 2011 (9:00am) – A few months ago on September 30, 2011, The United Cerebral Palsy (UCP) of Golden Glades (Miami, FL) asked Janae Designs to design a set of custom bathroom reclining shower chair bases and mats for their special needs patients.
